Scouting Yearly Roundup
Thank you for helping young people shine bright
What a year it’s been for Scouts – helping young people step up and shine bright. And once again, that’s down to your kindness and commitment.
This year will be remembered for many things. The great camps, jamborees (and jamborettes) across the UK were so impressive. Tens of thousands of young people made new friends and tried new adventures.
There were so many special moments: from our Founder’s Day Service of Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey, to our Day of Celebration and Achievement at Windsor Castle, where we recognised our King’s Scouts and gallantry award recipients.
We said thank you and farewell to 10th Chief Scout, Bear Grylls, after fifteen successful years, before you welcomed me, Dwayne Fields, so warmly, as your new Chief Scout. We were also deeply honoured when HM King Charles III agreed to become our new Patron.
We’ve seen plenty of other changes too, especially adopting our new volunteer experience and ways of working, as well as improving our support for keeping our young people safe. The way you’ve supported these locally has been outstanding - showing true Scouts values, helping each other along the way.
Scouts is growing. We’ve welcomed in more young people – not only in Squirrels, but also in Scouts and Explorers. We’re also seeing more Young Leaders than ever. That all bodes well for the future. The incredible £3.5 million raised from our Omaze partnership will help boost this growth further still.
We’ve seen so much community spirit too – proving once again the vital role Scouts play, helping other people. From the 240 Scout Groups who’ve partnered with local railway stations as part of our award-winning Platforms for Change initiative, to the 100 Scout Groups who lent a hand in The Big Help Out.
You can view a collection of highlights from the year in our End of Year video below.
When the world sometimes feels a troubled and uncertain place, Scouts remains a beacon of hope. What you do for our young people is so special – giving them the encouragement and skills to dream big and do their best.
Thank you for being the difference. It’s never been so important.
Wishing you all a very happy and peaceful 2025.
