County Practical Skills Day 5 June 2010

Kent County Scouts Training team have organised an Adult Practical Skills Day  on 5 June 2010 at Hopehill Campsite, Meopham.

Information for the Practical Skills Day

When is it?

Saturday 5th June 2010

Where is it?

Hopehill Scout Campsite, South Street, Wrotham Road, Meopham Kent.  DA13 0QJ.

How do I get there?

The campsite is located on the A227 between Meopham and Culverstone Green.  .

Do I need to attend for the whole day?

No, you may just attend zones which suit your needs and time available.

Can I just turn up?

No, you will need to register your intent prior to the event and before the closing date for applications.

Do I need to complete an application form?

Yes, you will need to complete and submit the attached application form, then send to Ed Cheesman (see application form for addresses). Also please send a copy to your Local Training Manager for his/her records.

The closing date for applications is 22nd May 2010.

What is the cost?

There is no charge for the training, although a fee may be payable for “non attendance” without a valid reason. (See application form)

What are the catering arrangements?

There will be no catering provided, apart from the supply of tea/coffee.  It will help if you bring your own mug (standard size (300ml max) only though!)

Please bring your own packed lunch, etc.

Is uniform required?

No, but name badges will be issued which must be worn at all times whilst on site; for security reasons.

Will I be able to have modules validated?

The ZONE Team Leaders will be available for you to ask about the required validation criteria to assess any learning/training. However the purpose of the day is to for you to try some new skills and activities, rather than to validate an existing skill. Any learning/training acquired at this weekend will need to be validated at a later date by a Training Adviser or a person appointed to validate modules/skills.

Will I receive a certificate?

Yes, a certificate of attendance will be available after the event.

Other points…………

The six zones will be operating all day (apart from lunch break).  Booking in times are not required.  “Turn up and join in” will be the order of the day.  If the Zone you want to attend is busy, please pass on to one which may be less so and return later.

Although you may already hold a Wood Badge or have satisfactorily completed module 18, any sessions attended and new skills attained during this weekend will qualify towards your on-going learning: (talk with your TA later).

Hopehill Campsite and Kent County Scout Council will not be liable:

-          For any damage caused to vehicles parked within the campsite grounds or any loss from same.

-          For any damage to, or loss of tentage and equipment left and used within the campsite grounds.

-          Smoking is not permitted anywhere within the campsite buildings.
