Campsite Rules

Camping Standards

NB:  These have been copied off the old site and are to be reviewed & updated....

The Rules of Scouting are the Rules of the camp.

In this leaflet we would like to make a few points to make your camp, and the camps of others, better.
Please report any problems to the warden as soon as possible

Security
Please read the notice board in the toilet block for updated safety information and the campsite risk assessment.
The site has two Dene holes, these are fenced and secured. If you are not familiar with Dene holes please ask the warden.
The woodpile by the entrance has pallets and boxes which contain nails, care should be exercised when handling these materials.
Cars may be parked on site, but only in designated areas. Ensure your vehicles are locked. We recommend that the gates are kept shut, and locked at night. The gates MUST be locked before leaving the site unattended, and at the end of your camp.
The nearest phone is about a mile away, so we recommend that a mobile phone is taken if possible, for use in case of emergency.
You will be inspected at some time during your camp, and will be given a copy of the report which is retained for District records.

Wood
DO NOT CUT STANDING TIMBER, even dead wood. The site is a designated SSSI and fines can be imposed on people breaking the rules, if in doubt ask. Also remember that the site does not stretch onto the Nature Reserve, and wood must not be removed from this area .A woodpile of palletes etc is available in the car park, we would prefer you to use this wood, but fallen timber may be used for ?traditional firelighting?. Ensure all wood piles and cutting circles are safe.

Fences
Please do not climb over the fences, or remove the fence posts. This is particularly dangerous around the Dene hole, which you must keep campers away from.

Toilets
Please keep the toilets clean and tidy, and check them at least once each day. Cleaning materials are available in the wall cupboard. Also ensure that the toilet block is locked before leaving the site.

Water
Drinking water is supplied to individual sites by standpipes, and from the outside tap at the toilet block. Hot water can be provided in the toilet block, please arrange with the warden. Do not leave taps running, we are on a metered supply and this can be costly.

Dogs
Dogs are allowed on site as long as they do not disturb others or stray onto neighbouring farmland.

Litter
Please do not bury litter, or leave it on the site (even in bags). The area by the toilets is not a rubbish site. Burn as much rubbish as possible, and take any tins, glass, and other non-burnable litter with you. Please do a thorough litter sweep before leaving the site.

Fires
Please keep fires under control. Only light fires on concrete blocks, or established sites. Ensure fires are safe before going to bed, and before leaving the site. At the end of your camp, please clear the fire site, and bury the ashes.
Ground fires are permitted please make sure they are properly extinguished before you leave.

Wood is usually in plentiful supply, please only use cut wood or fallen wood. You are NOT permitted to cut ANY branches or trees.
