Adult recruitment
Check out this video to see how adults find working with Scouts improves their quality of life
SWANLEY Scouts are the largest and fastest growing youth organisation for boys and girls in the area. Last year alone we grew by some 15 per cent - some FIVE times the national average.
We are successful because we offer young people an exciting programme of activities to help them grow into useful citizens. This is delivered by an enthusiastic and talented team of adult leaders who have almost as much fun as the young people we help!
We are especially strong in the villages around Swanley but we have ambitious plans for growth within the town itself and in nearby Hextable and Crockenhill.
In order to achieve our aspirations we need to recruit adults who share in our mission of providing exciting, challenging and fun activities for young people between the ages of six and 18.
We have four sections, click on the logos to find our more about each Section:

We currently require:
- Beaver Leader for Longfield & Hartley Tuesday night Colony
- Beaver Scout and Cub Scout Leaders for Hextable village.
- Cub Scout Leaders for Crockenhill and for Longfield & Hartley.
- Scout Section Leaders for Swanley town, Longfield & Hartley and New Ash Green.
- Assistant Cub Scout Leader or Pack assistant for Eynsford & Farningham.
We offer a training and support package that is second to none. New leaders are given hands on experience of their role before they actually take it up.
As an assistant section leader, for example, you would go to other Groups to watch other leaders take an evening’s activities where you would spend a couple of evenings watching experienced leaders. You would be given training on how to take games, how to control a meeting, how to have FUN in a safe environment.
You would practice with real young people and be mentored on how you have done. As part of this training, you would also be told about the Movement, its aims and goals and given an outline of what a leader does. The aim is to build up your confidence before going into a placement.
Once this is complete you would be placed with your Group. Your training buddy will have agreed a plan so that you are given an active role and feel involved from day one.
You would be mentored for a further three weeks before being introduced to the formal training programme - which is comprehensive and FREE - and the warrants process.
