Farningham Wood News Update 2 - 08-01-2012
In a vain attempt to loose all those Christmas calories,
we returned to the campsite for another working weekend.
There was only a small crew on the Saturday,
but we still managed to lay another 48 posts to
complete the boundary fence along the bridleway.
The next job for this fence will be to split about
60 logs to make the top and middle rails.
Then all we need do is attach the stock fencing.
On the Sunday we had a massive turnout of nearly 30 adults and young people! This must have been the biggest turnout for many years, and we're very fortunate to have so much support.
The young people worked on some of the Group campsites, and started to rake the leaves off the District site in readiness for reseeding the grass in March.
The adults returned to the fencing, and started to work up along the farmer's field from the campsite entrance.
By the end of the afternoon another 45 posts had been laid, and we even managed to loosely attach a top wire that had been salvaged from the old bridleway fencing.
So, all in all, a very successful weekend.
